Salon Mode keeps a shared front-desk device signed in to your salon without leaving one person’s account open. Each teammate unlocks the device with a four-digit PIN and sees only the calendar, clients, payments, and settings their role allows. Salon Mode works in Sable on the web and in the Sable app for iPhone and iPad.

Set up a shared device

An owner or manager sets up each device:
  1. Sign in to Sable on the computer or iPad you want to share.
  2. Open SettingsSalon Mode.
  3. Select Activate Salon Mode.
  4. Give it a name you will recognize, such as Front desk or Color bar.
  5. Enter the verification code sent to your phone.
Sable signs out your personal session and opens the salon’s lock screen. The device stays connected to this salon until an owner or manager removes it.

Give each teammate a PIN

Every teammate chooses their own four-digit PIN. Sable prompts a teammate to set one after sign-in when the salon uses Salon Mode. They can also open Account settingsSecurity and use the Salon Mode PIN card. PINs are unique within your salon. They identify the person unlocking the device, so teammates should not share them. Owners and managers can see set or no pin beside each person on the Team roster. Reset pin clears a teammate’s PIN when they forget it or when it may no longer be private. The teammate chooses a new one before using Salon Mode again.

Unlock and switch teammates

Enter your four digits on the lock screen. Sable opens with your role and your own access. A stylist sees their work. Front desk sees the salon operations their role permits. Booth renter privacy stays in place. Select the lock button in the top bar or Lock Salon Mode from the account menu when you finish. The next teammate enters their own PIN. Sable also locks after the idle time selected in SettingsSalon Mode. An active card-reader payment or checkout is kept safe before the device locks. Sable gives the protected step time to finish or cancel, up to five minutes.

Set or reset your PIN at the device

On the lock screen, select Set or reset your PIN:
  1. Enter the phone number on your Sable account.
  2. Enter the verification code sent to that number.
  3. Choose and confirm a new four-digit PIN.
The device unlocks as you when the new PIN is saved. If the phone number is not an active member of this salon, Sable does not send a code.

Manage devices

SettingsSalon Mode lists every enrolled device, its current state, and recent activity. Owners and managers can rename a device, restore one that was suspended after repeated failed PIN attempts, or revoke one that should no longer open the salon. To make changes to your personal identity or enroll another shared device, sign in on your own phone or computer. Those actions are not offered from a Salon Mode session.

Deactivate Salon Mode

On the shared device, an owner or manager opens SettingsSalon Mode, selects Deactivate Salon Mode, and enters the verification code sent to their phone. They can also revoke the device from Salon Mode settings on their own computer. The shared device returns to Sable’s normal sign-in screen and no longer has access to the salon lock screen.

Keep an iPad at the counter

On a shared iPad, use Apple’s Guided Access after opening Sable. Guided Access keeps the iPad in Sable and can prevent clients or visitors from switching to another app. Salon Mode controls who can enter Sable; Guided Access controls where the iPad can go.
